I was sitting home sick from college one day, and I knew that sitting stationary at home could not continue to be a reality for me. My father said he had an opportunity for me that I could start a new life with him in Dallas, Texas. It kind of shook me, because I’m from the small state of Alabama. My mother & my father separated when I was a baby, and never got along since. So I had the thought in my head of disappointing my mother, but my father said what about the disappointment you feel inside yourself? I only told my mother & brother that I was leaving none of my friends or any of them. I was aiming to high to be put down.
