I choose Attitude as my Leadership from the Maxwell book. In this entry I will began a brief paragraph about how this style relates to my industry.
I choose the music industry for my craft just off my love for the art, not just the possible monetary gain. When I was growing up the one thing that affected my attitude was music. Back in the day when MP3 players were still out it was common for a person to steal it where I’m from. Not just because a person is randomly targeted, but the effect that music had on attitude plus most of my peers didn’t come from stable homes. So with the crime rate so high in my city(Anniston, AL) the only thing that could provide influence was music which most people looked to for guidance. There were so many bad instructions contained in music that had a destination of prison or death it was hard not let that affect my attitude. As hard as life is for a kid with not much to look up to it was very challenging not to be wrongly influenced.
I was thinking about what the Maxwell Book said about the whatever it takes attitude. I began thinking how often this is attempted and used and how crucial it is now in life. If I keep that attitude with school and work it won’t be much to stop me. With that newly contained notion I could put money into music and keep a healthy attentive to school for guidance that a lot of people don’t have. Take for instance the title of point 1 chapter 7 in the Maxwell Book. If I didn’t have that I would have never brought myself to Full Sail. I’ve never even heard of it until one day I’m at Alabama A&M University on a band scholarship. I couldn’t balance band and school so, but because of my grades I was still able to maintain that Academic part of my scholarship. I had a internship at this local radio station learning the mixing board, my advantage was people skills which a lot of my colleagues didn’t have. I knew common hospitality and common problem solving so I was able to bring a lot of business. My manager once said to me if I can’t do all this what makes you think you can to which I didn’t say a word and kept working but he fired me. So I remember thinking to myself what I am to do, my school really can’t help me maybe I should just go back home and beg somebody with a studio to teach me until a music school search brought me to Full Sail University. I thought this school was a scam, but to my surprise that same helplessness I once felt would soon be over..
